mullu,
i think the diff between kunjachan and manikyan was that kunjachan was a comedy.the look was comical..even thaskaran to an extend.
but manikyan as i understand is serious.it mite be a big disaster and a mockery .

By the people- sify review sify.com/movies/malayalam/review.php?cid=2428Jayaraj is back with By the People, a sequel to his highly successful 4 the People. First and foremost, this sequel is nowhere near the original and is as hackneyed as it gets. By the People lacks freshness in treatment and the music is a big disaster plus production values are shoddy. The film has been etched out of an old Sidney Poiter film The Organisation. The heroes of 4 the People is now languishing in the jail. A new team (Santosh Kaitha:)am, Samad, Nischal, Bijoy) has taken over the vigilante job of cleaning up the society of the scums. The cop in the original, SP Rajan Mathew (Sunil) who investigated the case is back. This time his wife Sofia is killed by the politician-underworld nexus which makes him sympathize with the vigilante guys. The new four men army has an enemy in Paramasivam and Rajan Mathew helps them in eliminating his men one after another. But Paramasivam hits back and Rajan Mathew realises that he has to get the original team back! He helps them in breaking from the jail and plans operations to kill Paramasivam which leads to a climax. By the People is too much fret and fury about nothing and there are no surprises or twists in the story. If Jassie Gift’s music was the highlight of the original, Praveen Mani and the much hyped SS Music band fails to deliver even one peppy number! Antony’s editing has also fallen flat, in this disappointing film as Jayaraj has once again taken the audience for a ride. Sunil as Rajan Mathew is the only saving grace of the film. Verdict: Big Bore |
